Attack Of The Ducks
Nate and I enjoyed the close encounters with the friendly ducks of Stratford. He giggled the entire time.
Lulu
I had a total crush on Neil's ex-cat, Lulu, while we were in Stratford, which is strange since I generally only like my own cats. If it were not for the 16 hour drive home, I would have stolen her.
Music Man
Nathaniel was in love with the guitars and even had his very own little one to strum while he was there.
Clan Aitken
On Saturday, there was a little get together of the extended Aitken family and friends. A good time was had by all it was nice to see everyone again and to meet a few new faces.
Grandad's Workshop
Bill is a very accomplished craftsman making violins, mandolins and guitars-Nathaniel was quite intrigued!
Backyard Fun
We started our trip off with an overnight stay in Montreal. Our hotel was downtown and we had lots of fun cruising St. Catherine's Street. The next morning we headed off to Toronto to spend a few nights with Lee, Erinn and Henry. We had a great time watching the boys play, cry and beat each other up and we were treated to a wonderful meal prepared by Lee and Erinn. Lee almost had me convinced that red wine could be enjoyable...but I am still not quite there.
We were so excited to give the boys a bath together...let's just say it turned out to be less than idyllic. Yes, that's the four of us screeching our heads off laughing in the background. Might I add there was absolutely no reason for this outburst.
They have a great spot right on the lake complete with a park and a water park in their back yard that Nate especially enjoyed after being cooped up in the car all day.
Killarney Lake
We decided to introduce Nate to the world of water and sand at Killarney and he quite enjoyed splashing around and digging in the sand.
Country Pumpkin
Nate was quite thrilled with the close encounters at the Country Pumpkin courtesy of spending 50 cents on 2 apples. Too bad he wasn't around when Mom and Dad had a barn full.
Fishing
Kris and I went fishing at Big Hole Brook (next to the Irvings famed salmon camp) in Doaktown. The sea trout were running - here is our catch. The two big ones are sea trout and as much as I would like to say that I caught those, I have to give the credit to Kris. Kris hooked one that made these two look like sardines but it escaped about 2 feet away from the bank. Kris actually screamed like a girl (I am not joking) and then never shut up about the one that got away for the rest of the day. Funny how little brothers never actually stop being annoying...
The two smaller ones are brook trout and I caught the second one down from the top (Karson and I named him Pete). As puny as Pete looks, he is 8 inces long which isn't bad for a brook trout. I also caught some chub and a sucker (which are huge and tres disgusto-instead of lips they have a big sucker tube). I had a great time and as much as I wanted to land a sea trout, I was happy hooking anything plus I had an excuse to smoke some Colts (to keep the flies away fo course).
On the way home, we saw something I have never seen before-seven moose all in one spot. There were four cows and 3 calves in a swamp. It was pretty spectacular.
